I don’t think we take art seriously enough. For me, that means dropping all the cynicism and the laid-back cool we cultivated. Art is my preferred way of feeling dizzy, besides life. Commonplace books are systems devoted to the organisation of collected information by similar category or theme. This is my notebook where I dump art and art-adjacent emotions.

The commonplace book is a series of index cards of 500-1000 word length on whatever I find stirring, that can broadly fit under the umbrella of art/culture. I may write about a book, or a film, or a painting, or a building, or a piece of clothing. Some topics that I seem to like returning to include resilience, disappearing, and bodies. The commonplace book is a testing ground. I’m always learning.

I hope you find here something that stirs you. Thanks for reading.
